John was a farmer by trade but at times was a night watchman at Brown Shoe Company in Arcadia, Mo. and also worked for the dairy there. Mostly though he was a caretaker for the grounds there at Ursuline Academy in Arcadia, Iron County, Missouri. He was paid little money but as part of his wages he was allowed to live in a big 2 story house on the grounds there plus putting in a garden to help feed his big family. He also had to take care of the Nun's garden near the Academy.

He took real good care of both gardens. He moved to Arcadia, Mo. in 1948 in order for his oldest girl to attend high school there. And by the time he retired from his works in 1972 at the age of 76 yrs old everyone in Arcadia knew him & his family & was all respected well.

John had a cancer operation in 1976 and survived that pretty well but then it was discovered that the cancer spread through out his body. He at last joined his beloved wife in death at 4:50 pm on the 30th August 1977. He died at the Christian Northeast Hospital, Spanish Lake, St. Louis County,Mo. He was removed to White Funeral Home in Ironton, Iron County, Mo. and was buried by his wife on the 2 Sept. 1977 at the Arcadia Valley Memorial Park in Arcadia Missouri. He was 81 yrs, 1 month, and 15 days old.

Her God-Parents were her aunt & uncle Rose & Anthony Recar. Mary was always called by her middle named Genevieve. She is buried under that name. And with the below children she was always a dedicated housewife & mother.

Mary died at her home very much unexpected at 2:30am on the 26th June 1973. She is buried as stated above at the Arcadia Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. She was 58 yrs., 11 months, & 11 days old.

   * John & Mary were married on the 15th July 1930 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. They had 13 healthy children all which are still alive as of this writing. (8th Feb. 2010). Mary was supposed to have just one for it, the doctor said was very difficult to have any more, but 12 more followed.

     (1) Mary Genevieve (Marian) was born on the 20th Feb 1933 at Potosi, Mo. rural route 1 . She was baptized on the 2 April 1933 at St. Stephen's Church in Richwoods, Washington County, Mo. She entered the Ursuline Novitiates in Crystal City, Mo. on the 15 July 1954 and in Jan. 1960 made her final vows as a nun.  She is now retired as a teacher & taking care of older nuns in Alton, ILL.

     (2) John James was born 1st April 1935 at home. Baptized on 28 April 1935 at Stephen's Church in Richwoods, Washington County, Mo. Married 16 Sept. 1961 at Ironton, Iron Co. Mo. to Rushie "Ruthie" Harless (B-21 Oct. 1942 in Inez, Martin Co. Ky.) Daughter of Walker Harles & Gladys Osburne.

  (3) Robert Anthony born 18 June 1937 at home. He was baptized on the 18 July 1937 at St. Stephen's Church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. He spent 14 years in the Servite order as a brother. After leaving the order in 1968 he married Ann Marie Lawlor at Riverside, Calif. on the 21 June 1969. She was born 27 Sept. 1934 at Los Angles, Calif. Daughter of Thomas Lawlor & Marian Elizabeth McNamara.

    (4) Rose Mary was born on the 11 Sept. 1938 at home. Baptized at St. Stephens Church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. on the 9 Oct. 1938. Did not married but like her older sister she too entered the Ursuline Novitiate in Crystal City, Mo. on the 5 Jan. 1956. On the 6 April 1959 made her 1st Vows as a nun. And on the 6th April 1963 made her final vows as a nun. She became a nurse for the Order.
She transferred out of the Urusline Order and into the Missionary Sisters of Charity, same order as the one Mother Teresa heads on the 6 July 1981 and took her final vows in that Order on 27 Oct. 1983. She was in India as a nurse. Then to California for re-assignment.

     (5) MATILDA ANN (TILLIE) WAS BORN ON THE 4TH JULY 1940 AT HOME. COMMUINON WAS ON THE 30 MAY 1948 AT ST. STEPHEN'S CHURCH IN RICHWOODS WHERE SHE WAS BAPTIZED TOO. SHE MARRIED ON THE 5th MAY 1962 TO ROGER LEROY TUCKER IN IRONTON, IRON COUNTY, MISSOURI. HE WAS BORN IN THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS MO. ON THE 7TH DEC. 1939. SON OF HARVEY LLOYD TUCKER & NANCY MARIE CASSIDY.

     (6) Lucille Mildred (Lu) was born on the 23 July 1941 at home. She was baptized on the 24 Aug. 1941 at St. Stephen Church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. She married on the 17th Aug.  1963 in Ironton, Iron Co., Mo.  to Josef Beirith. He was born on the 13th Dec.  1939 in Marinefeld, Urkaine, Russia,  S/O Of Johannes Beirith & Maria Anna Scheicher.

     (7) Sarah Ann (Sally) was born on the 21 July 1943 at home. She was baptized on the 9 Aug. 1943 at St. Stephen church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. She married 19 Sept. 1964 in Ironton, Mo.  to Harry Barnhart (Pete) He was born on the 10 March 1941 at Rapides Parish, La. The S/O Alvin Barnhart & Grace McNaughton.

 (8) Judith Josephine "Judy" was born on the 5 May 1945 at home. She was baptized on the 20 May 1945 at St. Stephen Church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. She married in City of St.  Louis, Mo. on the 16 July 1994 to James Durry Barnes Born on the 15 Sept. 1918. D-4 Dec. 2000 in Lebanon, Lacede county, Mo. & buried 6 Dec. 2000 at Stanfield Cem., in Clarkton, Mo. S/O William Riley Barnes & Rosie Bell Holt.

     (9) Conrad Cornelius "Chris" was born on the 25 May 1946 at home. He was baptized on the 21 June 1946 at St. Stephen Church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. He married 16 March 1968 at Santa Clara, Calif.  to Sharon Kay Eckroat.  She was born on the 17 April 1949 at San Fransico Calif. The D/O Richard William Eckroat  & Ruby Mae Conner.

     (10) Dorthoy Susan "Dotty" was born on the 23 Sept. 1947 at home the last one to be born on the farm in Rual Potosi. She liked the others was baptized at St. Stephen Church in Richwoods, Washington Co. Mo. She married 20 Oct. 1979 to Charles Licavoli in city of St. Louis Mo.  He was born on the 10 July 1926 City of St.  Louis, Mo. Since then they have divorced. And he also has died. (2m) 19 July 1996 in City of St. Louis, Mo. to Andrea "Andy" Falcetta, born 18 Feb. 1950 Sicily, near Italy S/O John Falcetta & Maria Warino.

     (11) Frances Gearlyn (Francy)(Fran) born in Ironton, Iron Co.  Mo.  on the 7 May 1950. She was baptized on the 19 May 1950 at St. Joseph Church, Ursuline Academy, in Arcadia, Iron Co.  Mo.  Her God Parents were Robert Pelikan (Brother) & Lucille Jackson (Grandmother) She married in St. Anthony Church in

City of St.  Louis Mo. on the 23 Dec. 1972 to Thomas Joseph Morgan.  He was born on the 27 Feb. 1948 City of St. Louis Mo. S/O Bruce Morgan & Mary Margaret Katz.

     (12) Mary Celeste was born on the 28 Oct. 1951 in Ironton, Iron Co. Mo. She was baptized on 11 Nov. 1951 at St.  Joseph Church, Urusline Academy, Arcadia, Iron Co. Mo. She married on the 14 Aug. 1976 in the Church of St. Catherine LaBoure Catholic Church, St.  Louis County, Mo.  To Charles F. Poescel.  He was born on the 5 May 1951 in St. Louis City, Mo. S/O Charles Poescel & Ruth Vidlak.

  (13) Thomas Gerard "Tommy" was born on the 9 March 1954 in Ironton. He was baptized on the __ _____ _______ at St. Joseph Church, Ursuline Academy Arcadia, Iron Co. Mo. He married in Middlebrook, Iron Co.  Mo.  to Linda Joyce Jones on the 26 Aug. 1972. She was born on the 7 June 1956. The daughter of Maynard George Jones (B-22 Sept. 1931 D-20 Nov. 2002) & Lela Ann Barnes.
